Under the Mistletoe by M.C. Cerny

                                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monroe Matches is throwing the hottest holiday mixer for all the sexy singles in Miami. We've got the mistletoe, come and meet your holiday match...
Carla Monroe has been matching couples for decades. If there's one match she hasn't gotten right, it's her son Phineas. No woman has sparked his interest, no matter how many of her top contenders she's secretly paraded in his path, both in and out of the office.
Luckily for Carla, Maxine Mackenzie has finally come back to Miami. Once she pairs her grumpy marketing director son with the free-spirited party planner, sparks fly. Thanking a cue from her Shaman, Carla hightails out of town to let the two people who need a match the most, fall... under the mistletoe.
                                 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Under the Mistletoe was a very short festive read. I enjoyed every character and loved that they had known each other, that they had a past.

*Carla Monroe- The matchmaking mother

*Phineas Monroe- The Uncommitted Ladies Man

*Priscilla Monroe- The Crazy Driving Crude Talking Sister

*Maxine Mackenzie- The Party Planner

Carla Monroe wants her son to be happy and find love, so she comes up with a plan to bring Phineas and Maxine together.

While Carla ask Maxine to come down to Miami to help organize a Christmas mixer for all their clientele, Maxine jumps at the chance to get away from California. She stays with her childhood best friend Priscilla Monroe, and is ready for what this change will bring her.

What she didn't expect was to bump into Phineas that first day and still have those childhood feeling for him. As for Phineas, he fondly remembers Maxine and how she would follow him around. There was always something about her that wormed her way into his thoughts.

As the story proceeds, you can see how Priscilla plays her match making part to also match them up together. I found Priscilla to be hilarious with her crude talking and crazy driving! I would love there to be a second book on her, I can only imagine the things she would say and do.

As Phineas and Maxine take this step to see where things head, you can't help but to love where this story takes you. I found Under The Mistletoe to be a cute and funny read, definitely one of my favorite short reads!

Thicker Than Blood by Madeline Sheehan & Claire C. Riley

                              A True Friendship Never Dies.

Leisel and Evelyn lost everything. Husbands. Families. Friends. Lives that made sense. All they had left was each other, and a friendship that could withstand anything...

Even an apocalypse.

Until one faithful night, the marginal safety they'd come to rely on comes to a vicious and brutal end. With help of Alex and Jami, both unlikely allies, Leisel and Evelyn are able to escape their shattered sanctuary only to find themselves face-to-face with a much altered, much crueler life where they have to find the way and the will to stay alive in a world they no longer recognize.

Traveling across a broken and infection-ridden country; the road-weary group are pitted against endless violence, improbable circumstances, and the ultimate loss.
Everything comes at a price-especially safety, the cost of which could very well strip them of the one thing they've tried so hard to cling to: their humanity.

Yet along with all the trials they're forced to endure, there's also hope in the form of love. Having loved Leisel from afar, Alex attempts to put the pieces of her fractured heart back together.

But in such a savage world, is there room for love?

In a place of nightmares-made-reality, where the living should be feared far more than the dead, an unbreakable friendship and a love amongst all odds can mean the difference between life and death.

There are friends...

And then there are Leisel and Evelyn.

                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Madeline Sheehan and Claire C. Riley out did themselves! I don't even know how they hell am I going to review this book without giving away everything!
First off, don't let my blog name fool you, I'm a hardcore zombie apocalypse reading chick! Lol This book is nail biting, adrenaline rushing, and will have your heart feeling like you just ran a marathon.
I've read my fair shares of zombie apocalypse books and this one is high up there in the scale of 10! I mean, right in the beginning you can feel how the world has changed and gone to hell. The writing is superb and even the realism of reading it has you peeking out your window to make sure there are no zombies.
Madeline and Claire throw you in without warning and the action pack starts right away leaving you thinking "WTF just happened?" and it doesn't stop there, it keeps going and going. Evelyn and Leisel leave one hell for another and in the midst, their relationships tugs at your heart because you feel how strong it is. Everything they have suffered has you wondering when will they break, and eventually they do but they have each other through it all. Their friendship truly is thicker than blood.
The characters are unforgettable, you want to know all their stories. Thicker Than Blood sucks you in and leaves you drained.
How do you go on and even think about living when you have no one left? Read it and find out.
The epilogue was beautifully written and it will leave you in tears.
I can't say enough to any and everyone who loves these types of genres should read Thicker Than Blood. The action pack but heart felt book will leaving you wanting for more. I feel like this review doesn't even convey how I feel about it! They did an amazing job balancing out with the action pack scenes but also the emotional parts. Wow is all I can say, it blew my mind.
I cried in the beginning.
I cried in the middle.
I cried in the end. Oh man did I cry at the end!
I cried because we all know with zombie apocalypse books there can never really truly be a happy ending.
Finding Laila by TK Rapp
Joey, Cole, Haden, and Braxton have been a constant in my life since I was five, and I have loved being one of the guys.
I've been a cheerleader.
I've been a study partner.
I've been a listener.
When we're young, we don't realize the profound impact certain people will have on our lives. I had no idea twelve years ago I'd meet four boys who would turn out to be my best friends, my soul mates - my barmy.
Now school is almost done, our last summer together is drawing closer, and I'm trying to hold on to what we have while I still can. After this, we'll have to say goodbye to each other as our choices will take our lives in different direction. But I don't know if our friendship can survive once secrets and surprises begin revealing themselves to us at every turn.
when it's all said and done, will our friendships remain unbreakable? Or will our once strong bond prove to be weaker than we anticipated?
Letting go is harder than I thought, but some changes are necessary.
And finding Laila...finding myself...maybe the greatest journey of all.
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Wow, what can I say to make y'all buy TK Rapp's book?

First off, I'm not going to giveaway anything about the book away, all I'm going to do is explain how Finding Laila made me feel.

I know the exact moment I was going to love this book, and that was at 2%. It was a magnificent read! I would would catch myself reminiscing about my own high school experience, and every emotion I had was bitter sweet. Laila was the type of character I would have loved being friends with in high school, and let's say there was a few parts I was jealous at her because of the friendship she had with Joey, Cole, Haden, and Braxon. Lol

Author TK Rapp made me feel like one of the guys, reminded me about young love, true friendships, and heartache. You can't help but get sucked into the story and want to be part of it. Once you read Finding Laila you will fall in love with it, there is no doubt that you will!

My feeling were all over the place.
I was happy, excited, nervous, upset, sad, and devastated. Oh boy, when I say devastated I mean bawling my eyes out and having my hubby bring me comfort food while blowing my nose and not wanting to leave my bed. I highly recommend y'all having tissue on hand.

Would I read this book all over again? Yes, I most definitely would!

Did Author TK Rapp catch me by surprise? Yes, she did!

This book is a MAGNIFICENT READ!!!

Excerpt #1
He takes a step back and pushes his sleeves up his sculpted arms. My eyes wander up from his bare feet, over his worn jeans, his broad shoulders and handsome face. He’s over six feet of masculine perfection and distracting in every way. A breeze from the ocean hits him, and he turns his face sideways. The sinking sun backlights his perfect silhouette. This view of him engulfs me. I feel doused in flames and what I want at this very moment has nothing to do with writing. I’m burning for him. I desperately desire to be up on that deck wrapped around Max with the ocean breeze at my back. I don’t want to be his savior nor his biographer, I just want to consume him, and I hate myself…knowing that doesn’t make me any better than his art groupies. "Okay, I’ll go to the bookstore!" I say, exasperated. Max smiles happily and offers a wave as he backs away from the car. He thinks he’s won, but this game hasn’t even begun.
Excerpt #2
We’re a wall of passion, and all the longing and unfulfilled desire now burns brightly between us. It’s overwhelming and stronger than I could’ve imagined… From this moment on, I’ll never trust my instincts because I completely Underestimated this man’s attraction to me. I’ve never felt so desirable, so beautiful…so completely wanted in a man’s eyes. I moan as the room spins, and I try to make sense of what’s happening as I come undone. The room is hazy with the softest highlights and shadows. I wonder if this is a dream. There’s only one way to know for sure. I take a deep breath, take a step to the side, straighten my shirt and slowly turn to face him…   image4 links   image5 Ruth Clampett, daughter of legendary animation director, Bob Clampett, has spent a lifetime surrounded by art and animation. Title: Entwined (The Life of Anna, Part 2)
Author: Marissa Honeycutt
Genre: Very Dark Paranormal Erotica
Publication Date: October 29, 2014

Anna has two masters, one she hardly knows, but who makes her feel safe, the other she's known all her life and says he needs her.
Alex wants her to be free.
Devin demands her obedience.
As Anna takes her first steps into the world, into love, into friendship, she wonders if she will ever understand either of them.

There is a subculture within our own world that you’ve only heard whispers of. The conspiracy theorists wish they knew Anna’s story. What the conspiracy theorists think they know is only put out there to keep them from the real story.

***NOTE***
This is not a stand-alone novel. This is the second of five novels that tell Anna’s story.

***WARNING***
This book is for grown-ups. This book is not for people who are easily offended, get nightmares easily, or have difficulty reading books about tough subjects. I do not glorify bad things, but bad things do happen to my poor characters. This is not your typical love story. My heroine does not fall in love and live happily ever after...at least not like the typical heroine. There is a happily ever after, but it is a long, painful journey to that end.
Anna’s story is told in five, novel-length books.
This book will likely offend you. This book might make you cry; it might make you throw up. It is a dark book. As my friend, Heidi, said, “It’s dark. It gets darker. It gets even darker, and then it gets even more darker. And then, just when you think it can’t get any darker, it does.”
But, don’t worry. I take you to the deep end gradually. ;)
There are many sexual situations in this series of books. People die. People get hurt. Things aren’t always truly the way they appear to be. The antagonist isn’t just a bad guy; he’s EVIL. My heroine’s worldview is skewed; things that may appall you are perfectly normal to her.
Any violence in this book is non-gratuitous and crucial to the plot and character development.
Do not read this if you are under the age of consent in your country. Do not get angry if the subject or actual book upsets you. If you're reading this, you've been warned.

***Disclaimer***
This book series is about a sex slave. Therefore, there is sex in it. Lots of sex (though I took a bunch out. lol). Other disclaimers: Physical abuse, emotional abuse, physical torture, sexual torture, rape, death, violence, violent rape, gang rape, anal sex, regular sex, violent sex, violent anal sex, sex with non-sexual objects, sex with sexual objects, m/f, m/m, f/f, m/f/m, orgies, bloody scenes, disturbing scenes, scenes that might make you throw up or cry, scenes that make my characters throw up and cry, mindfucks, cursing, drug use, multiple snuff scenes, disturbing rituals, manipulation, brain-washing, people in disturbing situations (duh!), imperfect heroes and evil antagonists doing evil things.

Enslaved: The Life of Anna, Part 1

Marissa's story of Anna began with a dream about being kidnapped with Adam Savage from Mythbusters (Yes, really). Over the next year and a half, it morphed into the story you will be reading soon. She has several other stories in progress, one of which is based on her kidnapped dream.

When she's not writing or editing, Marissa is taking care of two young boys, training to be an astronaut, running her household, wrestling with gorillas, playing around on Facebook, promoting whirled peas, and busting her tush for her accounting degree. She enjoys chocolate, air conditioning in the desert's summer heat, really good strawberry margaritas, sleeping, and shopping.

Reignite by J.M. Darhower

The moment the short-lived apocalypse came to an end, life returned to normal. Mortals continued on with their obvious existences while the earth healed and flowers again bloomed, the devastation instantly wiped away. It was as if it has never happened.

But it did.

Luce knows. He's cursed to remember every moment, forced to live with everything he has done. Suddenly finding himself out of confinement, he's faced with a decision: where to call "home". Free will turns out not to be the freedom he expects when the only thing he wants doesn't know he exists.

Serah woke up with no memory of where she came from or who she was before that moment. Struggling to adapt to the world as a mortal, she's haunted by a set of bright blue eyes that always seem to be watching her. She can't shake the feeling that he could be her salvation... if only she can remember him before it's to late.

Lucifer didn't didn't fall from Grace alone. He's not the only angel with a grudge, nor is he the only one fascinated by his beautiful mortal.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions...

                                   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really didn't take to well on the first book, but after reading the second book I was more drawn into it. The way everything played out was perfect and I loved the ending. I really thought it was going to end differently. The point of views changing this time around didn't bother me as much has it did in the last book, maybe because I really was wondering where J.M. Darhower was going to take this story.
To say this was a different read is a understatement, I've read plenty of paranormal romances but this one was different in the way the author makes the bad guy into a good guy, but it's not just the bad guy but which bad guy she turns good.
This book isn't a stand alone, you have to read Extinguish before jumping into this one. Having said that, I really did enjoy reading this book. I really do recommend reading both books because the ending of Reignite is well worth it. It's a beautiful ending.
